First excuse the blurry photo (from a video). Second, and more importantly, I hope you are safe at home. If you’ve been following this, I went through a zero-waste closet clean out recently and since we are stuck at home and the idea of living with fewer better things seems like a better way to live going forward, I have been sharing my tips on IGTV. There is a general first video, the lists’ videos and then my thoughts on shopping your closet and why integrity in design matters. Instead of writing it all out, I’m putting links to the first five videos below. I love all your comments and stay tuned for more (there are only two more short lists and then we pull it all together and get down to the nitty gritty.) xx J

Are those James Perse sweats you’re wearing? 😍
I finally “splurged” on 2 different pairs (still a splurge after getting them on discount from Nordstrom Rack) and I really love them.
They are actually Nili Lotan leather pants (very baggy ones) though I am a big fan of James Perse for good basics ♥️
I loved these questions you suggested regarding clothes that sit in the closet as mausoleum and are never worn:
Why did you buy this item?
Why do you keep it?
In my case, the items I bought that I don’t wear were either:
“should haves” that I never really liked and don’t really fit my life or style
or
items I love but haven’t figured out how to wear.
I’m giving away the former and focusing my creativity on the latter. An example is a lime green cashmere cardigan that I bought on a celebratory trip to London. My initial thought was that I’m keeping it only for sentimental reasons, but then I realized that doesn’t mean I can’t integrate it into my wardrobe. So, as you suggested, I played dress-up in my closet and came up with a plan. When I wore the sweater yesterday with a black t-shirt, jeans and black ballet flats, my stylish home-from-college daughter commented, “New sweater, mom? Nice.” A win!
Take care and stay healthy!
I totally get the “should haves”….been there. And so glad you found a way to wear something you already have. We could all use some color therapy these days. Stay safe! x Jennifer
Could you do a list of your favorite basics (with brands)? Would love that!
Yes I will. Stay tuned!
