If you’re anything like me, and love a tailored summer dress, this dress designed by Daryl K. and tweaked by me–a few inches longer and in my favorite summer shade, navy, might be for you. I was bemoaning to Daryl months back about how overtly feminine most summer dresses are, something I do not love, and she told me, “because you’re a pants girl, which means you need a dress with tailoring. One you could wear over pants.” Indeed. The dress is dark navy, 100% linen, with a braided self belt and pintucks at the waist (so if you go belt-less there is still a bit of waist definition) and at the elbow for an added detail when you wear the sleeves long. That all being said, I put this video (below) up on Instagram yesterday afternoon and have almost sold out. (Another image as well below.) We made a very limited run, since this is a first for me and wasn’t really sure how the reception would be, but it’s been fantastic. In fact, because they’re almost sold out, I am not adding it to my site, so if you are interested, please either email me at info@theflairindex.com, or DM on Instagram. (I will send you a Square invoice and then ship out.) I will also create a first-come waiting list in case there are returns. xx Jennifer

Amen Jennifer! I love a summer dress- cool, easy dressing but agree many choices are ruffly and too voluminous, at least for me. Always searching for light weight and tailored. You have read my mind.

Thanks, Jennifer! Daryl is so right and for those of us who are loyal followers of you and your site, there’s a lot of us “pants girls”. A friend and I were recently bemoaning to each other that many of the dresses available this summer are either too frilly, too long or too short. This really fits the bill.

I love it but have 3 navy linen dresses. Are you considering another color? Natural, white, army green?

Love love love. I find DarylK dresses run small. If you make again, consider sizing up for those of us who work out, love pants, and need a dress?

I’m so over the ruffles, tiers and poufs. I don’t want to dress like my 8-yr old granddaughter! This dress is classic and simple – perfect!
