Never underestimate the power of simplicity.
I admit there are times when I try too hard to get dressed, whether it’s my desire to shake things up a bit, or try something new, but it ultimately leads to outfits that are more complicated than necessary and outfits I often question after wearing them. Trying too hard also leads to purchasing clothing that fills the “newness” desire, while ignoring the kind of core items I know I will be happiest with and feel good in. Case in point a shirt like Jane Birkin’s, above. So easy and effortless, but still sexy. Nili Lotan has made a similar version (I’m sure influenced by Jane) for years. I never buy it. I think, however, now might be the time. Plus, I love all white or white-and-beige ensembles. The simplest jewelry, like the David Yurman chain below (yes, I know, but it is good and chains are hard), and you’re set. It’s summer, shoes are optional.
