I have read a lot about Île de Ré, the quiet summer retreat on the coast of France, but never been. In fact, a while back I posted on Victoire de Castellane’s easy elegant home there. In the new WSJ Magazine, there is a feature on minimalist furniture designer Christian Liagre’s summer IDR home. I am a big Liagre fan and am lucky to have a few of his pieces in my home (and would have a lot more if redecorating was on my agenda). I love his attention to small details (pine cones in a straw basket), the occasional burst of rich color (in the living room ceiling), and his use of organic, rustic materials. Île de Ré is on my To Visit list—in the meantime, I will just have to dream about it with these photos.
Sublime – minimalist perfection
