Unplug Meditation’s motto is “If you can breathe, you can meditate.” Easy enough. TFI asked founder Suze Yalof Schwartz for newbie advice. If you go online to Unplug Meditation, you can take a trial online class or sign into their online classes where you can tailor your meditation by topic, teacher or just the time you have. If meditating via your phone or computer is not for you, below is Unplug’s classic mediation method. Maybe it’s worth trying both ways to see what works best. (I am.)
Classic Unplug Meditation
U = Unplug from your devices and any tasks you’re doing.
N = Notice how you’re feeling.
P = Pick a point of focus (your breath, or a mantra, object, or visualization). For this exercise just count your breath. (Breathe like this—breathe in for 4 seconds through your nose, hold for 4 seconds, breathe out through your mouth for 4 seconds and then hold for 4 seconds. Do this 4 times.)
L = Let it go.
U = Understand that thoughts will come and go.
G = Get on with your day!
