In her latest exhibition, Remembered Light, that opens at the Gagosian gallery today, photographer Sally Mann turns her camera to focus on longtime family friend artist Cy Twombly. Both natives of Lexington, Virginia, Twombly and Mann knew each other early on (Mann’s father first befriended Twombly) and spent time together discussing their work, sharing meals and shopping for kitschy antique finds. The photographs of Twombly’s work studio (and more) should be compelling, especially seen through Mann’s haunting, dream-like lens.
