I love a summer shirtdress and have been looking for one similar to what Lucy Chadwick is wearing in this photo (which is not new, but that is the point of buying #buybetterbuyless timeless designs) and voila! I have found it. Someone thought it was a men’s Charvet nighdress, which of course you can only get in Paris at their menswear boutique (Sofia Coppola and others apparently get custom button-downs there…someday). Now, Net-a-Porter has them exclusively in several color ways. A Charvet nightdress is a splurge and not for everyone. While I do not believe in fast fashion, I also acknowledge that spending a lot of money on summer clothes doesn’t always make sense and this is where I give a little leeway. The COS dress is on sale and the Aritzia one is pretty good (I bought it but didn’t keep just because I don’t need it). I also like the idea of layering your shirtdress, unbuttoned with a tank and jeans, or with a slipdress underneath.
