After WSJ Mag‘s Kristina O’Neill posted the mag’s article about Toteme‘s new Soho boutique, it was on my to-do list this week. While ordering online from Toteme is about as seamless as it gets (especially because I live in NY and shipping from their US warehouse is almost immediate), nothing beats seeing everything in person.
The interior is pretty great, the sales staff is lovely–Diego helped me and I met the head of private client sales (maybe she’s also the manager), Sie, who was fun to chat with. Because Toteme’s look is oversized, trying things on is key. Sie told me Fall is coming within the next couple of weeks, so can’t speak to that yet, but some things that caught my eye were….
The surprise piece I fell in love with is this crochet knit black sweater with tiny hook closures and a slim knit belted waist. It has bell sleeves, looks better in person than it does on the model online, and would be so good over a slip dress (not a fan of basic cardigans). I am thinking about this one seriously.
Did I leave with anything? Something small, but I love it. This paisley print silk/cotton scarf–to wear around a bag or in my hair for the rest of the summer. It is my first, but probably not my last, Toteme scarf.
