It is not surprising to me that Stephanie von Watzdorf, the Creative Director of Figue, a line of colorful, boho clothing that is in influenced by her globe-traveling, artisan-seeking nature, is approaching this whole pandemic in a very zen-like manner. Stephanie embraces life full-on and her biggest passions–traveling to seek out adventure and the beautiful work of artisans around the globe, and her love of and desire to help animals, are in sync with her positive vibes personality. She is a ray of sunshine, but a very cool, eclectic one. I cannot wait until she is traveling again, because I like to live a bit vicariously through her voyages.
What are you wearing often? I have been wearing kaftans with leggings and slippers, and a cozy zip hoodie or pashmina shawl if I am chilly.
What are you wearing too often? Probably leggings…seems to be the go-to with everything. I am definitely wearing a hat all the time, mostly to cover my roots. Greys!
Go-to video conference outfit: I always try wear something fun, colorful, printed. I throw on a feather earring and a good-luck eye earring.
Favorite place at home to sit and work: I have a small office in my apartment where I choose to sit, sometimes I go to my studio office across the street. I also love doing emails in the morning on my cozy sofa in the living room.
Latest read: My National Geographic magazines–a treat because they were piling up. I just started reading To Shake the Sleeping Self by Jeddiah Jenkins. Next will be West with the Night by Beryl Markham and The Paris Option by Robert Ludlum ( I love political spy thrillers!) and Material Girl, Mystical World by Ruby Warrington.
Online rabbit hole: Well the rabbit holes are bountiful. I have been looking at: @suitcasemag.com, @worldofinteriors.co.uk, @honestlywtf.com, @everwildafrica, @andthreecollective, thewhatlist, @TED, janegoodall.org.
Daily ritual you practice: I meditate a.m. and p.m. with @insighttimer.
Daily ritual you’ve abandoned: Ordering take out lunch and going to the gym.
New skill you’ve mastered: I have gotten much better with video conferencing! FaceTime and just connecting with people.
Old skill you’ve put back in use: I like to eat clean, mostly vegan.
Favorite new recipe: I love black Tibetan rice, steamed asparagus, olive oil and brewers yeast!
Mood booster: I have Spotify all day ♥️. Afternoons sometimes I blast the music for 5 -10 minutes and dance ? on my own .
Favorite hour of the day: I love the early morning and 7 p.m. (cheering for the frontline workers is emotional and beautiful).
Something you love to do that you can share with others: I love listening to podcasts and doing collages.
How are you looking at your business differently? I am meeting virtually with the Figue team to brainstorm and figure out the future. I am so proud of the whole gang. We are pivoting and we will definitely focusing more on our direct to consumer business. Less is more across the board. And if possible, do EVERYTHING, with even more ♥️ LOVE.
What do you miss most? I miss human interaction. I miss freedom, I miss hugging, I miss travel. I miss my husband and my family ….
Where will you go on your first post-pandemic trip? That is a tough one, there are so many places I am dying to get to or go back to: Colorado, Canada, Mexico, the Amalfi Coast, Marrakesh, Egypt, Africa, Spain, Portugal, Costa Rica, Viêt Nam. Not sure in which order!
What do you hope the new normal brings: I wish for the NEW NORMAL to be a time where we finally understand who we are and how we exist with a higher consciousness. A slower, more thoughtful, less wasteful existence. I wish humans to be KINDER …and take better care of our planet and all living beings ?.
