Designers create inspiration boards to help define their next collection, so why not create your own for a new season? Here, some images and ideas that are cornerstones for how I want to dress for Fall. Tailoring is key and I’m focused on suits, separate blazers and pants, and turtlenecks. The women behind the looks? Everyone from classic Greta Garbo to Charlotte Gainsbourg to 70s style icons Betty Catroux (below with Yves Saint Laurent) and Charlotte Rampling. And since I cropped my hair, anyone with a bob in tailored clothing is on my inspo list. Not that I’m going out and buying an entire new wardrobe, in fact, I have many pieces I can resurrect–a Céline tweed blazer with a nipped waist, another lightweight gray wool version from Isabel Marant. Some seasons, certain pieces need a time out and then one or a few years later suddenly seem au courant. Of course, that only happens with the most classic pieces I have acquired. But more on my perennial favorite topic–shopping smart to create a zero waste wardrobe later.
