On my wish list of places to spend a few blissfully quiet days is the Hotel Esencia on Mexico’s Riviera Maya, just above Tulum. Once the home of the Duchess Rosa di Ferrari, it became a mediocre hotel years back, but was purchased and updated by media entrepreneur Kevin Wendle in 2014. The hotel is small. there are only 29 rooms set on a 50 acre property. The modernist interiors—a mix of classic pieces such as Pierre Jeanneret chairs and Serge Mouille lamps mixed and Mexican crafts and crisp white interiors are exactly what I love (more images below). No surprise it is a favorite among the fashion and interiors set—Jason Wu got married there and I’ve seen Instagram posts from the likes of AD’s Editor-in-Chief Amy Astley. In the meantime, I found a recipe for their signature margarita, which is going into my summer cocktail rotation. Cheers!
