As much as I look forward to grilling, going to the beach and fireworks on July 4th, I also try to take time to reflect on how lucky and proud I am to be American. What does being American mean to me?
I love being able to exercise my right to use freedom of expression.
I love knowing I have the opportunity to do anything I put my mind to, and that my daughters do as well.
I love our land—from the vibrant chaos of New York City to the majestic mountains and canyons of the West, to the beautiful low country of the South. I have seen so much, yet so little, and look forward to discovering more.
I love the diversity of Americans and our cultures–the food, the music, the traditions.
I love that Americans are innovative and forward-thinking.
I love that Americans are positive.
America never ceases to amaze me. I can’t imagine living anywhere else.
Here’s to a spectacular Independence Day!
