For a long time, Le Labo Santal 26 and Cire Trudon’s Abd el Kader (Moroccan mint) and Balmoral (mist, soil, meadows) have been to my go-to home scents. They have a luxurious depth but also subtlety that makes them everyday luxuries worth splurging on.
But Mad et Len “potpourris” might be a step above. I noticed them at Jenni Kayne‘s new Lido Village boutique in Newport Beach over the holiday, but was too lazy to carry one home because they come in weighty hammered steel tins. (You can also find them at Wallpaper’s online store.) There are two “potpourris”–both made with lava rocks from the Sahara infused with oils. The “Spirituelle” hints of Moroccan mint, wood, spice and florals, the “Amber Nobile” is earthy amber, musk and honey. They both smell so incredible, so complex and rich, I can’t decide which I like more.
