I am always on the lookout for modern interiors that don’t follow the prescribed all white walls, upholstered furniture in shades of griege, black and white artwork and the splash of green (usually a plant). I prefer something a little more eclectic, something more soulful (but not too over the top), which is why I love Sonia Rykiel designer Julie de Libran’s home in Paris that was recently published in Architectural Digest. The brass fireplace in the living room and the snaking custom sofa both by Charles Zana, the vintage Gio Ponti tiles in the entry hall replete with a stone sink used for arranging flowers, the mix of modern and ornate in the bathroom–Julie’s unusual combinations inspire me to try more unconventional mixes of eras, materials and colors.
