I hope this doesn’t come off sounding trivial, but I do find that hard times also highlight, and call for, truly appreciating the luck of having a well-lived life–sharing a good meal with a friend or partner, pondering the beauty of things, being inspired, having time to yourself. These are luxuries I do not take for granted. My birthday was this Tuesday, and while the war has put a somber mood on everything, I am taking time away from the news to reconnect with friends and indulge in a few rituals. I have been looking forward to everything more than I imagined. Yesterday, a trip upstate with my friend Heidi Wynne, where we did a bit of shopping in Millbrook at Orangerie, Creel & Gow and Antony Todd, lunch at Harney & Sons in the town of Millerton, and a walk around the antique shops. Tonight, my birthday dinner with my husband at Le Coucou which recently reopened. I had my birthday dinner there pre-Covid, it was heaven. Then, I am going to book a massage/tub soak at Shibui Spa at the Greenwich Hotel as a gift to myself. I meant to go when we moved to Tribeca, but then COVID happened and we moved away; I’ve been waiting two years and cannot wait to zen out (at least for a little while).

Happiest birthday wishes! Well said. My birthday is coming up one month from today and I feel very much the same. Celebrating life and it’s most special moments.

Not trivial at all, in fact the opposite. Life is meant to be celebrated. I wish you the happiest of birthdays.

Happy happy birthday Jennifer. And I agree, it’s moments like these when we need joy. And for me, one of those joyful things is your site. It truly is a bright spot of creativity and beauty.
Enjoy your birthday weekend!
