This weekend I am going to try to go to the Robert Rauschenberg: Among Friends exhibit at MOMA, which runs through September 17th. Rauschenberg was working in New York City in the 50s and 60s, which was a heyday of the collaborative, experimental cross-pollination of different artistic genres. Dancer/choreographer Merce Cunningham and Trisha Brown, Jasper Johns (one of his lovers) and others were some of the people Robert worked with. (This short MOMA video gives you an idea)
How I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when this group of influential artists got together. They continue to inspire.
