While we are sitting at the edge of our seats waiting for election results, I thought I would send this short distraction, about how versatile a sweater can be. I have my eye on the Nili Lotan camel sweater at bottom. I don’t need it, but I do think I would wear it again and again. When I spend a good amount of money on a sweater, I want it to play an essential role in my wardrobe. Each of the sweaters shown here work with jeans for weekend or weekday, dressed up a bit with pants and boots and then with slip skirt, tank and little heels you’re ready for a night out (or more like a night in these days). In fact, if you choose one of these sweaters and added the rest of the extras–you’d have a strong, edited wardrobe. By now we have gotten a good sense of which clothes in our closet we reach for regularly and which pieces hardly ever see the light of day. Concentrating on a core essential wardrobe that consists of buy better, buy less pieces will feel relevant for months (and I hope years) to come.

I bought the Co light-ish camel cardigan after seeing you mention it earlier this year (was it this year? Was it 5 years ago? I’m exhausted and I DON’T KNOW ANYMORE). I have to say it has become a workhorse for work-at-home. A great sweater that honestly lived up to its potential. I won’t be investing in a new sweater, but I love your collages for new ways to wear it. Thank you!

It is a good one. And yes, it feels like 5 years ago but it was only last year. xx

Yes, I’m interested in the chunky boots from the top too!

There’s links available to the boots if you click on the Alexander Wang sweater, as well as the Equipment cardigan. It looks like they’re by Proenza Schouler.

Fantastic combinations, Jennifer! I’m partial to the last combo – I adore the look of a camel sweater worn with white jeans.
