Houndstooth, Glen plaid, Prince of Wales check—whatever your preference, you might want to consider a checked blazer this fall. I guess they are an “it” item, though I don’t like that term, because to me a checked blazer is a timeless classic. Buy now, wear all fall, put it away, pull it out two years later. Repeat. Plus you can jazz it up by layering prints and patterns (perhaps a striped tee, or a floral dress). Personally I prefer a lightweight simple top—a la Sonia Rykiel designer Julie de Libran, whose photo (bottom center) I took from Instagram. Maybe some wide-leg jeans like Farrah Fawcett who, except for her shirt collar, looks pretty au courant. Or we all look very 70s. That’s ok by me.
