Each year, I invest in one nice pair of flat summer sandals that I keep and wear again and again, year after year. I have a gorgeous pair from Alaia in nude suede with silver grommets that zip up the back of the foot, a pair of luggage brown Celine with extra wide straps that wrap the foot, a pair of dark brown Manolo with thin ties that lace around the ankle (that are almost a decade old and still so so good)….you get the picture.
This year, I bought the Gabriela Hearst black sandals below, because weirdly I have every shade of brown and beige but no black. I love all the lace up versions shown here too (like the image above, which I think is old Matteau), to wear with a dresses, jeans, shorts–everything. You can’t go wrong.
