Besides a trench and a blazer, my other favorite Spring outer layer is a classic, tailored patch pocket jacket a la Saint Laurent in the 60s/70s like Yves’ muse Betty Catroux is wearing here (I don’t think you can call them safari jackets anymore). I have a suede version from Saint Laurent I bought about 8 years ago which is sadly a little snug, so am thinking of other options. (The Saint Laurent here is a serious splurge.) I tried on the Nili Lotan one the other day and it is a definite contender. The BDU version is from my favorite store in Brooklyn, Front General Store, which mostly sells vintage but has started to add new pieces here and there; it is very oversized, much more weekend vibes. With a scarf and perhaps a belt, and to wear with black pants, jeans, white jeans, linen pants. To me, this look never gets old.
Nili Lotan jacket, $895 here and here; Toteme jacket, $600 here and here; Saint Laurent suede jacket, $4890; beige BDU jacket, $128; Toteme scarf, $170; Bottega Veneta hoops, $720; Saint Laurent belt, $575

I just ordered a simple suede jacket from ebay that looks remarkably like the Saint Laurent, minus the lace-up, and at a fraction of the cost. Buy gently loved!

I have a two-year-old and these kinds of jackets are the ones I wear the most….beautiful AND functional for all the stuff that has to be hauled around all the time!

I frequently see various versions of the Nili jacket on the RealReal in case you like to hunt for a bargain (although the pricing in TRR is so crazy, sometimes it is a huge bargain, other times, when you add in their pricey shipping, it is more expensive than just buying the item new). Love the look!
