I am not a fan of frothy ball gowns. Beautiful cocktail dresses, absolutely, who doesn’t want one? But what I love most is a seductive tuxedo on a woman. Very Seventies. Very Helmut Newtown/Yves Saint Laurent. It’s not for everyone, but more women look good in them than they think. And there are many ways to do it: A classic tuxedo jacket and slim pants with a bustier or pale blouse with a little black bow at the neck; a strapless jumpsuit with a jacket thrown over the shoulders; or another mix of those elements. Last year I bought a Nili Lotan strapless jumpsuit (still on sale) that I wear with a cropped jacket…it is still my favorite cocktail outfit. Heels (black), sleek clutch, perhaps a chignon, red lips or a smoky eye. It’s classic seduction. See more options below
