First off, thank you for all the incredible feedback on my packing post the other day–I have ordered things, have new ideas and changed half my list, so stay tuned for an update once I receive things, try them out etc. Second, I don’t gravitate to many colors, but orange and red (and especially an orangey-red) are my favorite colors and as I’ve been scrolling around on my phone I found some fun (and all mostly affordable) pops of color that I ordered, have my eye on, or just love.
First, there is a trio of new limited edition Hermes lipsticks with fun, summery packaging by Pierre Hardy. I am drawn to the Brun Yachting shade (odd name), but there is also a nice coral and a neutral. I do love a good coral in summer so maybe I need both (I already have a good Hermes neutral, Beige Kalahari). Then, because I started rethinking everything I’m taking to Ireland (I realized how little I have in the way of “performance” clothing), I ordered this unisex UV protection jacket from Uniqlo as a layering piece that will also come in handy once it warms up. Along those lines, my younger daughter swears by these Patagonia shorts and now they come in coral, so not yet, but maybe soon–for warm weather hiking. On a splurgier side, this The Row mini envelope would be a great pop against summers khakis and whites as well as this Hot Lips by Solange ring. Maybe you just want to dream of summer vacation (I am) with this book, or smell like summer with a fresh spritz. Sometimes all it takes is a new pop of lipstick to brighten your mood (which is why the beauty industry is so big, but it’s true).

I kind of dissed on a cashmere brand in your last post, but today I’ll sing one’s praises: Aethel, out of London. Cashmere spun by Loro Piana, knitted in North London, recyclable packaging, woman-owned, limited range, and transparent pricing. A relaxed-fit, fully finished v-neck came in at about $360 U.S. It was kind of a paperwork hassle to import to the U.S. (it’s a VERY small company), but my sweater arrived in two days and it is just gorgeous and so far has performed perfectly. I bring it up here because it’s that fabulous shade of Hermes orange! It is the only pop of color in my closet but works with white and blue denim, navy, charcoal, camel, olive….. Check it out here: https://www.aethel.com/shop/the-perfect-v/satsuma/

Love that orangey-red “tomato” color as well, especially with khaki and olive! That’s my favorite bright color to wear, especially when I need a little pick-me-up from my mostly neutral wardrobe! With regards to your packing list, I was just going to chime in that Tod’s has some nice looking, comfy Chelsea boots and loafers that are quite weatherproof (the ones without the logos). I always wear mine in rainy weather because of the rubber soles and the finish of the leather which is water resistant. Also, the Uniqlo lightweight Heat-tech underpinnings (tanks, tees, turtlenecks, etc.) are so great and perfect under sweaters on chillier days and take up almost no room in a suitcase!

I love orange. It looks terrible on me but I love it so much, so I wear it in little pops like a handbag or piece of jewelry. I’m about to have my pearls restrung with orange thread. Little pops of orange make my neutrals so much more interesting!
