I love dressing up and frankly wish I had more occasions to do so. Not ballgowns, but heels, a dress, lipstick and jewelry. Last year before the holidays, I was opining about the desire to find joy in dressing. (I think that a lot to do with the fact that a COVID wave really put a damper on the holidays.) We might not be out of the woods yet, but this season people are not letting anything slow them down. They are out–last night my daughter and I went to see Handel’s Messiah at Carnegie Hall and it was packed (we wore masks). And, some of them are dressed.
In general, I do think there is a lack of polished glamour out there, there is a lot of over-the-top-ness, and a lot of laziness (like the man wearing a baseball cap inside last night, seriously not ok in my book). So, with the holiday season in full gear, this week’s post is dedicated to a visual edit of some of my favorite glamorous women and moments. Yes, I obviously veer to black. But really, doesn’t every woman look timeless here? I rest my case.

One photo more inspiring than the next! You are so right about “over the top-ness” — these looks are so perfect and far more real. Also feeling black and brown since your shearling post and this ups the ante. Will be perusing my closet for new combinations — thanks for always inspiring. xx

Love the festive feeling here. Especially that Nili Lotan look. And your words made me seriously proud that even my 4-year-old son knows to take off his hat at meal time or with company. 😉

Start them early! For my girls it was learning that it takes just as long to put on pants and shirt and a sweater as it does to wear workout clothes, so you know, get dressed!

The woman above Lee is ELEGANT with a capital E. I would love to dress like that daily. All of these photos are timeless, and I think, especially in the wake of Covid, that’s what’s missing. An all togetherness that feels rooted, confident and serene.
I think it’s the self-assuredness that is the biggest style element all of these women have in common. You can’t get that simply by putting on a dress. You have to be that.
Thanks for making 2022 much easier to bear, Jennifer. Happy Christmas.

All is so so elegant! Love it! Especially the chocolate brown! Hard to find brown, but when you do it’s amazing!
Happy Holidays! Thank you for the inspiring post. And lipstick is an instant pick me up!
