Who doesn’t love a good stripe in the summer? Whether it’s an oversized Breton shirt worn over a bathing suit, or paired with a lightweight trouser, or a more sophisticated silk shirt version–I love them all and have had a couple of pieces on my mind of late.

First is Kule’s new silk stripes, which my friend and founder of the brand, Nikki Kule, wore so well on her recent trip to Greece. I think I really might need the shirt–long sleeve or short sleeve? That is the question, I like them both. The matching shorts and pareo are also calling my name.

For a long time I had my eye on this Matteau classic Breton that is oversized (below). Then they sold out everywhere in size small. Now, Matteau has restocked (it ships from Australia and I have bought directly from them before; it is not hard, but you do want to be quite sure you will want to keep what you order). I also want the cotton trousers to go with (I have them in beige linen and love them, I wear a size 2). You can find the shirt in a medium on Moda.

Then, some of the inspo pics to follow will explain why this striped Slip silk pillow case, now at Violet Grey, is on my mind. The only reason I haven’t added to cart is it’s Queen size and my pillows are King….not that it will necessarily stop me since there are other smaller pillows in my house. VG’s image below, also makes me want a pinstripe suit for fall, but that’s another story….

That is it for my current obsessions, but continue scrolling for more stripe images.

Stripes – ALWAYS!
Funny, but Iโve had pinstripes on the brain lately (does that mean itโs not a coincidence and weโre just prescient, Jennifer?). I ordered a navy pin-striped blazer from FRAME for fall and I can hardly wait to wear it.
Oh, will have to track that one down! Sounds like a really good get!
The Matteau breton is no longer available at Moda but the measurements are still on NAP. Similar coincidence here as my hair cutter was wearing one last week and I went home and did a quick search. The proportions of the Matteau immediately appealed to me.
Jennifer, is the jersey a heavier weight like a St. James or more of a t shirt weight?
As a first time commenter, thanks for what you do. I have been reading your site for years and love it.
First, thank you Sara for the kind words! I do not have a Matteau Breton yet so can’t answer your question. I would hope it would be somewhat substantial, it is not inexpensive.
