Nothing says Spring or Summer like a white shirt, whether it’s a crisp white cotton version, a blouson peasant style and one cut from fresh Broderie Anglaise and eyelet. Because of their endless versatility your wardrobe would benefit from more than one, plus they lighten up your face and show off sun-kissed skin to great effect.
A classic men’s style button-down worn slightly oversized can be dressed up–think Carolyn Bessette Kennedy in her Yohji Yamamoto men’s twisted button-down she tucked into a floor-length skirt, or completely dressed down with light-washed denim. Tomoku Ogura, Vince’s Brand Director, was wearing the raw-edged version below (in blue), which I immediately gravitated towards. I also believe in a short-sleeved white shirt when it really heats up. I have the Nili Lotan one below and rely on it every summer (and replace it when necessary) because it is the coolest shirt I own (a camisole deals with the sheer factor). The one I have my eye on? It’s the Isabel Marant Broderie Anglaise style for that rare occasion when I want something ultra feminine, but would pair it with tailored bottoms.
