Everyday Outfit #4: The Understated Allure of Navy + Black

A few days back I posted a picture of Sofia Coppola wearing a simple navy crewneck sweater and black pants on Instagram–the commentary I received about how much women love the combination of navy and black, and some inquiries about where to find similar items are the prompt behind this post.

I love navy and black together, it’s a bit under-the-radar style-wise and is a softer way of wearing dark colors. I also like it year round and in the summer I gravitate towards dark blue dresses and black accessories (more of that later). For the kind of crewneck + pant combo shown here, my go-to navy cashmere crewneck is actually Uniqlo, but you have to wait until next fall to buy them; in it’s place I found the lightest, slightly sheer cardigan. I love Allude sweaters and recently purchased a pale gray version of the one shown here (which I seem to wear every other day right now). Almost all my pants are from Nili Lotan pants, because she has the most modern cuts, and the Re/Done black jeans here are also my current favorites–they have enough stretch without compromising the denim content (I am very picky about my black denim and this is the only pair that’s passed the test in ages).
