I don’t want to dwell on this, but it is going to be a long winter mostly spent at home, which means it might be time to invest in a couple of pieces you can rely on that still make you feel dressed. (And I am not saying spend a lot of money necessarily.) My favorite combo now is a turtleneck sweater and wide-leg pull-on pants–whether in satin, a knit or even sweat pant material. A camisole underneath, some comfy shearling-lined slides. Usually I would say wearing these clothes will make it hard to put real, fitted pieces later on, but since I am sure we will all be so excited to get out and get dressed again, I highly doubt it. In the meantime, it’s time to get cozy.

I lead a very casual life, so I don’t object to a cute sweatsuit, but I hear what you’re saying about establishing a pattern for “overly casual.” This seems like a perfect (classy) compromise.
