Valentine’s Day is in two weeks and I love it for two reasons: 1) I love love; it makes the world go round and you don’t have to have a significant other or a lover, you can share the day with other people who matter in your life. 2) At this point in dead winter, which is fairly dreary if you live in NYC, I just want a boost of pretty. I even start to crave pink. Speaking of love and gifts, why not gift yourself? I’m all about it. Whether it’s a splurge piece of jewelry, or a box of the finest chocolates and a cute pair of undies which you can eat/wear while you watch and old movie, who needs someone else to give you what you deserve? Not to mention some significant others, despite all the hints you think you’ve dropped, still don’t pull through. Sure, picking your own present ruins the surprise, but when surprises get expensive, being strategic has its plusses. I will be gifting myself the Marella Agnelli book, something I’ve long wanted.
