Recently I resolved to change four beauty/health products I use regularly to healthier, non-toxic formulas. One was nail polish, which I wrote about, then organic sunscreen (covered that too), another is toothpaste (still working on finding one I love) and the last is deodorant. Most anti-perspirants (which block sweat) contain some form of aluminum and though there is not definitive proof it is bad for you, people have been worried about it for years. Why be a guinea pig?
But I’ve been skeptical about some of the deodorants (which mask the smell of sweat, but don’t stop you from sweating), because organic and natural is not always synonymous with being effective. Plus I try not to recommend something without trying it for at least a couple of weeks. Now I have found my favorite, on recommendation from Cayli Cavaco Reck of Knockout Beauty. It is Agent Nateur, created by Jena Covello, who formulated her products with ingredients from California and France. There are three scents: No.4 which she created with actress Shiva Rose that smells of rose and sandalwood, No. 3 a unisex version with lavender, honey and eucalyptus, and No. 5, a men’s version which smells of vetiver and cedar wood (along with rose and sandalwood). I actually use the men’s; the scent is subtle yet sexy. It works just as well as any regular deodorants I’ve tried, and even gets me through the toughest SLT class. Plus the packaging is chic. I love it when good-for-you and gorgeous work in tandem.
