One habit I have been trying to get into over the course of 2017, and for which I have reaped immeasurable benefits when I do, is to get out of my comfort zone and meet more women, whether it’s through email, a short coffee or a meal. I am a firm believer that, for the most part, women want to help each other. And considering all the madness that has been going on this year, it is only more proof that we need to not only be there for each other, but expand our networks and friend groups. (You can only be so brilliant/impactful/ground-breaking if you’re being thoughtful on your own.) I discussed this recently in a post and thought perhaps this would seem like a rehash, but I don’t care because it continues to be forefront in my mind.
Just last week I met and spoke to women who either changed the way I viewed certain things, or created collaborative opportunities I wouldn’t have thought of on my own. Like one of them said to me, “It’s amazing what happens when women get together for a coffee. You should write about that.” So I am here, sort of. But I will also have the opportunity to share what I learned and what I am starting to plan soon. In 2018 I will be having a lot of coffees. Who knows where it will take me? For that, I am excited.

I am a big believer is coffees – whether with 2 or 35. I hold a large coffee or two each year, if nothing else to be able to have a face to face with someone whom I love to see but schedules don’t always permit our catching up. I hope you’ll join me at my next one!

What a wonderful goal. Having small children at home has kept me isolated. I’m ready to get out and share more with women. I often don’t have time to meet for coffee. Last week. I met a 95 year old woman while waiting for an Xray. She had loads of style and grace. We talked for 30 minutes. Inspiration awaits us in unexpected places!
