There is nothing I like more than championing women designers who envision ways to help us look and feel better and, at the same time, introduce us to their enticing world of creativity and inspiration. Emme Parsons is that kind of woman. Her line of shoes and accessories that are crafted in Italy tick all the boxes for being elegant, minimalist in design and subtly sexy. Her shoes are also both timeless and wearable (they can be special occasion shoes, but most are what you’d reach for every day), meaning they are right in line with my “fewer, better things” ethos. Here she answers my TFI questionnaire.
What is your career background and what led you to create your brand?
I was an Art Director at Condé Nast in New York prior to launching my brand. After I got married in 2014 my husband and I moved to LA to start a family. When my son was born I took some time off of work to spend with him. During that time, I realized that I had a window of opportunity to pursue my dream of creating a line of footwear and decided to go for it to be a good role model for him to never be afraid to follow his dreams.
Why shoes? What do you want a woman to feel when she puts on a pair of your designs?
Shoes are technically challenging. I loved the three-dimensional challenge of trying to create a product that feels visually compelling and harmonious on and off the foot as well working with something tactile after spending so many years sitting in front of a computer screen.
My hope is that our designs help women feel confident when they wear one of our designs.
What inspires you? Being outdoors and my children.
What are the cornerstones of Emme Parsons the brand and why? Quality and design with purpose.
