If there ever was a four-season jacket, it would be an army surplus style. You either love them (like I do), or you don’t. But it’s hard to deny the endless versatility of a more lightweight option. You can dress one up–paired with a floral print dress or a silk shirt and pants, or dress it down with t-shirts and jeans like Giorgia Tordini wore in Paris last week. I own an older version of the Veronica Beard shown here and continue to wear it often. I prefer the more refined styles, because they have the kind of utilitarian chic I associate with Yves Saint Laurent when he created his iconic safari jackets and tunics. You can’t go wrong with that.
Clockwise from top left: James Perse, $395; Veronica Beard, $595; Weekend Max Mara, $356; Nili Lotan, $893.

Love this post as I just bought one yesterday but didn’t know how to make it work besides the basic jeans and tee. Thank you.
