January–a time when many of us rethink everything including our closets, is just around the corner so in my effort to encourage us all to #buybetterbuyless here are some investment pieces, all with details which make them modern, that are prime replacements for the tote that has worn out or the blazer that just doesn’t fit right anymore. Plus these are all by designers–Khaite, CO, The Row, and Vince, whom I think are the Next Gen of simple, modern design. I like the idea of an oversize blazer, but one that is cinched at the waist seems like a more flattering style for many of us. Khaite’s tote that comes in 3 colors, is sure to become a classic as are their cashmere sweaters like this turtleneck here. I can imagine wearing all these pieces until they wear out.
CO blazer, $995 Khaite jeans, $325, tote, $1560 and turtleneck, $1380; Vince top, $145; The Row loafers, $795.

Hi Jennifer,
Great, timely post! I just cleared about over 100 items in my closet and sent to consignment sites or donated. One huge lesson was to buy quality items that retain some value. I am sickened by how little I wore many items and how many are all bit worthless on the re-sale market. I am looking for modern classic pieces that will stand the test of time. This cashmere sweater is a bit over budget for me. Would love to see a post on your recommendations for more quality cashmere.
