When I pack for a vacation, I try to be somewhat methodical and stick to pieces in a specific color palette so I can optimize mixing and matching everything. This weekend I am heading out to California for a short trip to visit my family, and I’ve decided on a neutral palette based around my new favorite Eres coverup (that I wear as a dress) and my dinner outfit, a matching printed top and pants from Matteau (which are like wearing chic, comfy pjs). What else comes along? Jean shorts and a white and khaki button down from A Shirt Story for fish taco excursions; dressier classic shorts like these from Mara Hoffman (which I actually just ordered because my go-to pair are a bit ragged these days) for shopping/running around; this ankle-length t-shirt dress from Frances de Lourdes which gives me Joan Didion in CA vibes; my Gabriela Hearst sandals (which are on super sale now–in my size, grrr, but I have worn them a lot); my roomy super slouchy The Row Bindle bag; my old Celine sunglasses; and I’ve been wanting a pair of super basic, black plastic flip flops so I ordered these recycled plastic ones (also on sale) from Rothys. Beyond that it’s running clothes, a few extra t-shirts and my Dezso necklaces, Kim Dunham bangle, my Rolex, lots of sunscreen and some presents for my adorable nephew.

Love this combo! I love the Eres dress Is there a way to shorten?

The Eres caftan is quite short, on me it hits about 3″ above the knee. The Frances de Lourdes dress has a raw hem so you can have it shortened (or just cut it carefully yourself and sew up the corner seams.)

The Eres caftan is sold out, do you think there is anywhere else it is available?
