As I mentioned in my last post about my WSJ jewelry credit in a tank top story, tank tops are a “trend” for fall (that is Prada Fall runway in image). I always love a good tank top, but honestly come fall the only place I will be wearing them will be under sweaters and then, most likely, it will be a camisole. But for now, I am wearing them with everything, especially my James Perse lounge pants I talked about recently here, with an unbuttoned button-down shirt layered on top. And, I finally found a bra that works with most white tanks. It is this Commando Double Take Racerback (it also comes in black). Two things: 1) It has a lace inset on the back, which I don’t love, but you really can’t see it, and 2) I am a 34B and aware that everyone else isn’t, but me giving advice to someone who is a 36D is frankly, not something I can honestly weigh in on. It would be useless conjecture. So, with that in mind, I would love to crowd source other options that have worked for you dear readers. Please comment away!

I love my Araks bras. I particularly love that they practice sustainable and fair-trade business models. They have a D cup range and I can attest to the comfort and fit (32 D).
They don’t make a racerback but their bras come in such lovely colors that letting the straps show could also be a thing.
Thanks for both of those Dana. I have been meaning to try an Araks bra. Next on my list.
Also, a friend just turned me on to Harper Wilde. They make a “f___ your laws” bra that is awesome. I can’t find out where they make their bras, which matters to me. Also, and alas, I don’t see a racerback option on their site.
The commando racer back looks nice. I’ve been using nippies skin with an agolde tank. The feeling is fabulous!
Thank you for sharing!
I miss my arms and skin that looked so gorgeous in tank tops, sleeveless dresses, etc. I love the James Perse pants you linked to, lovely!
Why do we care that much about how are our arms look? I look back at pictures from the 20s and 30s and ALL women wore sleeveless regardless of their age, shape or size. I wish women today would be less inhibited, and we are all our own worst critics. You get older and everything changes–celebrate it! And the James Perse pants are great.
For bigger busts, I highly recommend Fantasie’s FA53 style — seamless with no padding, and they go all the way to a G cup. Their nude bra is a staple of my closet.
Thank you Ammu!!
I find the True and Co bras work really well under T’s and tanks. I am a 32 E and they hold up pretty well until they stretch out too much after about a year. They have a couple of models with convertible straps (and no lace options). They also make bras for bigger and smaller sizes. No padding and an array of colours and skin tones.
That is brand I’m not familiar with. Thank you Maya!
The Splits59 Loren bra works best for my small bust under a narrow shoulder tank top- no padding or frills and the thin racer back straps stay in place.
The Negative bra’s work for me.. no padding no underwire extremely comfortable. I’m a 36 c.
