Because it’s been so cold in the Northeast (and Southeast for that matter) dressing in mummy-like layers has been a necessity. And at this point, all winter-related clothes are starting to feel very tired. Why not simplify and upgrade some basics, those that nod to Spring and warmer weather like these photos? (Top and bottom are from Net-a-Porter, center of Giselle is from Vogue Japan.) Number one on my Spring shopping list is a trench–one with a twist, and a couple of white blouses that are a step above your basic button-down. I can’t wear a trench now, but perhaps the Totême blouse pictured will lighten my mood even if I have to cover it up when I step outside.
Maria Tash diamond hoop, $360; A.W.A.K.E. trench, $1220; Totême blouse, $295; Ray-Ban optical aviators, $170.
Isabel Marant blazer, $990; Gucci loafers, $730; Wandler handbag, $890; Saint Laurent pants, $890.
