Things I’m doing, seeing and going down a rabbit hole with this weekend.
- I would take a whole The Row wardrobe and love this article/shoot in Net-a-Porter about women who wear the line. Former Vogue editor Grace Fuller, now a landscape designer, is pictured here. But my favorite might in the story might be Deeda Blair, an old-school socialite with exquisite taste who is also a super serious medical research advocate/philanthropist and has done incredible work for AIDS. This old NY Times article on her home and her life is definitely worth reading too. (I always thought I wanted her hair when I was 80. Maybe.)
- This story in NY Times about Mexican architecture. I went to Mexico City a few years back and toured several Luis Barragan homes, and fell in love with his work. These homes are inspired by him. Reading this gives me serious wanderlust.
- My new favorite Instagram account? @gramparents. So good on every level.
- My daughter and I played hooky the other day and went to The Met during the snow storm and saw the new Dutch Masters exhibit. Vermeer and Rembrandt are rather hard to beat; I am not sure why they basically put it in the basement (it’s behind and below the great iron Spanish chapel gates in that weird hexagonal room). Go during the week when there are no crowds.
- I can’t wait to see Michelle Pfeiffer in The French Exit, about a wealthy woman who runs out of her fortune and decides to escape with her son to Paris. I imagine the clothes and the acting are spectacular. Something over-the-top and naughty seems appropriately escapist right now.
- This blood orange upside down cake (actually my photo/I made it last weekend and I am no baker) also in NY Times. It’s delicious and easy to make.
Have a good weekend! xx Jennifer
Everything down your “Rabbit Hole” this weekend sounds wonderful! I cannot wait to see the exhibit and run away to Paris with Michelle -maybe wearing The Row head to toe!
If I were wealthy, The Row is all I’d want to wear.
Your cake looks scrumptious!
I cant wait to see The French Exit! Watched Nomadland last night. So good. It stays with you.
