I love a simple white tank top in the summer, worn solo (if you dare), as a base layer under a light sweater or with a men’s button-down shirt (mostly unbuttoned). I also realize I need a refresh. I want one that is thick enough I can wear on its own, so I’m ordering this from Frances de Lourdes. I do have this Toteme one I bought last year, but it has a high neck which isn’t always ideal. If you wanted an under layer, this from James Perse would work, and your sustainable option is this one from Another Tomorrow. Also a favorite are Petite Bateau boy’s underwear vests which come in a pack of two; sadly you can no longer buy them in the U.S. but I did find them on this site which ships UPS. (I wear a size 16). Muji sells excellent white cotton tanks! They are a great cut, lightweight, and not too sheer.

I just bought my first tank top in years from a great company called Rowan – their tanks (and tshirts) are the perfect weight and cut!

Personally, a white tank is not something I’m going to spend a lot of money on because it’s a summer piece that gets a lot of wear and tear. I’m perfectly happy with my Everlane cotton “Ribbed cutaway” tank!
