One of the women in fashion I admire not only for her innate style but also her approach to fashion is Paris-based fashion editor Suzanne Koller, who is profiled this week on MatchesFashion (where you can also shop Suzanne approved wardrobe staples).
I am sure part of the draw is that we are both attracted to similar classic styles (trench coats, button-down shirts, gray cashmere, Birkenstocks, ponytails) and other strong women. Suzanne’s sense of proportion is superior and I look to how she wears things for inspiration. I like this nugget of her interview best….
How would you describe your style? How do you decide what to wear?
‘My style is obviously classic, but quietly radical – I’m the opposite of extravagant. Clothes express who we are and say a lot about our personality, dressing becomes a uniform. I decide what to wear depending on my day – in the office, travelling, meeting clients, on set, fashion shows, family time… My favourite basics are an oversized beige trench coat – I have an impressive collection – Birkenstocks for casual work days, especially the Il Pellicano ones [Birkenstock x Il Dolce Far Niente, a collaboration between the shoe label and hotelier Marie-Louise Sciò], Raey jeans in blue or white, a grey cashmere sweater and oversized men’s shirts from the A.P.C. x Suzanne Koller line. In my work I have a much more extravagant approach to fashion, but the images remain timeless.’
