Don’t get me wrong, I love a good summer dress, but since I favor tailoring, sometimes I need to reach for something different to put on. This image of Jackie O. on Capri still looks as modern today as it did 40 odd years ago. Is her short-sleeve tee and white jeans a bit basic? Sure, but hardly anyone dresses this simply anymore, so chances are if you can really pare down to this kind of essence, you might actually stand out. I also love this slouchy bag from The Row as a summer carryall, I bought one myself (sadly not before it was marked down to 40% off like it is now.) Note: If you have white jeans with stretch, it’s time replace them with a no-stretch version. Usually I’m laissez-faire about most fashion trends, but trust me, even if you hardly follow fashion, it’s time to move on from clingy white jeans.

This is my summer uniform, including the vintage Hermes Trim in barenia and twill and the huge sunglasses. Never fails me.

I never wear dresses! Love this post. In particularly hot weather, even I won’t reach for the jeans but maybe the Khaite ones would work if sized up?
Yes, denim is hot when it’s steamy…a lighter cotton might be better. But these good be good year round.
I love this outfit as well. Summer always leaves me a little lost because I don’t care for florals and ruffles, especially here in the southeast. So, this outfit is a breath of fresh air. Before the pandemic, I was talking to a store manager and she said “In all the color and pattern it’s the simple dressers that stand out to me”. When I get frustrated with my clothes I refer back to this statement.

I feel seen! I usually live in dresses during the summer, but for some reason, this summer, unless I am at dinner or cocktails someplace, I have been in oxfords or a good t shirt with trim but comfy cotton pants all season. I guess it just feel right for now…as does that bag…so good. Happy weekend!
